Also, despite the rumours of it being called the iPad HD, it seems the device will simply be called the new iPad.
What else is new?
An updated version of the iOS platform comes out today: iOS 5.1
Apple TV will now support 1080p video and has Genius recommendations built-in. It also has photostream support – so you can take a photo on your iPhone and it’ll go straight to Apple TV. It’s $109 in Canada and will be available on March 16th.
What Tim Cook said:
This is a post-PC world: “We think that iPad is the poster child of the post-PC world. The momentum behind iPad has been incredible, and it surprised virtually everyone.”
The numbers:
15.4 million iPads were sold in the last quarter – more than any PC manufacturer worldwide. There are 200,000 iPad apps in the App Store.
iPads, iPhones and iPods made up 76 per cent of Apple’s revenue in the fourth quarter of 2011. They sold 172 million of the devices last year.
The App store saw its 25 billionth download today, and iCloud has 100 million users.
Initial reactions:
The immediate winner is the display:
CNET: Apple has ruined us for all other screens: “Remember the first time you saw an HD television? You were probably excited about the future but also a little sad that your current TV’s days were numbered. For tablet fans, a glance at the iPad’s new screen may offer this same emotional cocktail of envy and loss.”
Engadget: “Unsurprisingly, Apple has managed to produce something that’s truly beautiful to look at, and while we’ve yet to see the full potential of having this many pixels on a 9.7-inch slate, we’re guessing a cadre of game developers are already hard at work in order to remedy that. Beyond being dazzling from a density standpoint, colors are sharp and accurate, and viewing angles are predictably ridiculous; even taking a peek from an extreme side angle gives way to a fairly solid image with next to no washout.”
But this isn’t an overwhelming change from the iPad 2 to the “new iPad,” and the last minute rumours about new touch screen technology that allows users to feel textures and physical technology turned out to be false.
The new apps announced, however, are impressive, including the new multi-touch iPhoto which is available today.

On March 2, 2011 Apple announced the new iPad 2. The innovated company came up with a new design with better features and slimmer look within just a year. Apple is offering it for the same price as the original iPad, starting at $499, and it is being released March 11th.
Features:
The iPad 2 is 33% thinner than the original and up to 15% lighter. It also contains a dual-core A5 processor which makes it 2x faster than the iPad. This is ideal for every kind of use, including surfing the web, gaming, watching movies, etc. The gaming experience is also increased because of the increased graphics performance.
Even though Apple managed to decrease the size and weight of the new iPad 2, the battery life has been increased. The iPad 2 now as an amazing 10 hour battery life, which allows you to bring it everywhere and use it freely without having to worry about it dying.
You wanted an iPhone 4 for facetime? The iPad 2 now comes equiped with 2 different HD cameras, one on the front and another on the back. Apple has also designed a smart cover that enhances the experience you get with the new iPad 2. The smart cover has smart magnets that holds them together correctly when brought close to one another. The cover puts the iPad to sleep when put on, and immediately wakes when the screen its peeled off. On top of this, the design allows the user to fold the screen into a stand for use in multiple ways. This is great for general surfing, gaming, watching movies or picture taking. The covers come in 10 different colors for everyone.

With all these packed into one sleek and slim design, with 3G and wifi available, who wouldn’t want one of these?

Yesterday (January 27th, 2010), Apply revealed the new iPad! This is a new tablet offered by Apply that runs on the same OS as the iPhone. All the applications found in the Apple store are of course compatible with this new device. This device has a 9.7 inch screen with 1024 by 768 pixel screen, and of course fully touch screen!
Apple considers the iPad as their most advanced technology, and I don’t doubt it. The pricing starts at $499 with Wi-Fi models shipping out in March, and 3G models in April.

The very large screen allows you to easily view pictures and browse the web easily. You can zoom, scroll, etc with the sweep of your finger. Mailing can’t be any easier with the wide-screen. You virtually have the full keyboard at your fingertips for typing efficiently. Pictures can be easily viewed with the iPad acting as a digital frame. The Apple Camera connection kit is also available for taking new pictures. Of course watching videos on a large screen like this will be enjoyable for everyone! With a crystal clear screen, any video would be brilliant, including online streaming of youtube! The iPad also comes with all the other features including iTunes, iBook, maps, contacts, calenders etc.
